RSS Feeds
Use this guide to find out how to subsribe to the RSS feeds below.
The RSS feeds have been a feature of the website since it launched in August 2010. The feeds allow visitors to control the flow of news information they receive and opt-in to specific SME-related news content.
RSS feeds, also known as XML feeds, syndicated content or web feeds, are a collection of frequently updated content that may also be published on a website. They are typically used in online news and blogs and can also be used to distribute other types of digital content.
RSS feeds are generally formatted differently than content on a web page and look like more of a list. Once a person subscribes to a specific feed, in most cases, a web browser (like Internet Explorer) will automatically check a given website and download the latest content of the feed so the user can view new and previous updates. (For example, in the case of the MDM/R Registration and Enrolment RSS feed, only news about MDM/R Registration and Enrolment will be available within it.) However, each browser’s RSS feed reader can be a little different and may have a different subscription process.
In many companies and organizations, users have the option to subscribe to RSS feeds through Microsoft Outlook or other email applications. The option provides another way to easily access individual feeds from an email inbox. The SME encourages local distribution company (LDC) teams to contact their IT department to find out if RSS feeds are available through internal email and how to subscribe to feeds using that option.
