Transitioning to Release 7.2

R7.2 Resources

As part of the Smart Metering Entity’s work with LDCs to be compliant with Measurement Canada’s requirement to display register readings on consumers’ bills, this R7.2 resource page has been provided to assist LDCs in their testing and transitioning activities. It contains an overview of the steps and transition paths and provides links to important documentation for EnergyIP Release 7.2.

Steps to R7.2 Certification

    1.

Begin testing as soon as you are able. Request a switch to sandbox with at least three days notice.

    •   Production LDCs must make this request through the MDM/R self serve portal.

    •   Pre-production LDCs must send a request via email to their enrolment project manager.

    2.

Reserve a six week period where we will commit resources to you in support of your testing. This six week period consists of five weeks of testing support and one week for testing evidence review.

    •  The required and recommended R7.2 test scenarios can be found in the R7.2 Resources section above.

    •  Required tests are highlighted in green.

    •  If a required test is not applicable to your organization, please contact your SME Project Manager.
    3.

You can start testing and submitting your evidence now.

    Transition Paths to R7.2

Your transition path depends on your current state within the MDM/R.

If you are an LDC who is currently in production you will:

Test and be certified for the XML billing service standard interface in sandbox and switch to this interface after R7.2 is deployed in production.

If you are an LDC who will move through the enrollment process and cutover to production under R7.0, you will:

Test and be certified for the custom billing quantity interface in QA and cutover to production.

Test and be certified for the XML billing service standard interface in sandbox and switch to this interface after R7.2 is deployed in production.

If you are an LDC who will move through the enrollment process and cutover to production after R7.2 is deployed in production you will:

Proceed normally with SIT and QT as the XML Billing interface service standard interface testing scripts will be incorporated into the testing processes.
